The Quiet Tension
A new series exploring proximity and emotional distance.

A quiet beginning
11-02-2026
Working with a limited palette and a loose, searching brushstroke, I’m exploring the space between two figures — not what is said, but what lingers. The provisional title, Rejection, is less a statement than a question. Something has already happened here, or is just about to.
At this stage, the painting remains deliberately open. The figures carry a shared history, but its meaning is unresolved. I’m interested in that fragile moment where a narrative exists without explanation — where emotion leads, and interpretation is left to the viewer.
Studio Update
17-01-2026This painting was the beginning of everything — the moment this entire project quietly took shape.
Painted in a more classical approach, before the looser brushwork entered the series, it introduced the two figures that would later return again and again.
They reappear throughout the series in different forms and configurations, sometimes clearly recognisable, sometimes only suggested. Their roles shift, their relationship evolves, but they remain connected to the same unspoken narrative that runs beneath each scene.
In many ways, this first painting still carries the core of what the series is becoming.
